I was born and raised in the hills of Wisconsin. I have been around woodworking my whole life. My father, who was a high school industrial technology teacher for 40 years would bring home boxes of scraps from shop class to be used for starter kindling and as a kid I found many other uses for that wood. It would fuel my imagination and begin my passion of creating things.
As my love for wood grew and so did the size of my projects. I tinkered with wood through junior high and then through high school, building projects for friends and around the house. My mom was always pushing me to improve each piece. I went to college and got a degree in industrial technology and then spent 14 years in the plastics world. But my love was always with wood.
I married the love of my life and we have two kids, Jared and Sara. When Jared turned 6 he was diagnosed with Leukemia and our life was forever turned upside down. He battled cancer for 3 years before losing this battle and it was during this time I learned that life is short. I credit Jared for rearranging my priorities and helping my make better goals in my life. And so Twisted Wood, LLCwas created.
I loved what I was doing and started building furniture full time. Twisted Wood, LLC was started in 2005 and with the help of my dad to talk though ideas, we came up with some very unique projects. My name started floating around and the projects got bigger and better. And through word of mouth my business grew. Today I am still a one man shop because I like it that way. In 2012 I became a preferred supplier for the University of Wisconsin. You can see work we created together in many of the buildings on campus.
I love the beauty a great piece of wood inspires and I love the challenges of something new. I continue to improve my knowledge of woodworking and my skills get better every day.
I look forward to building relationships with people as much as I do building projects for them. If you have interest in something custom built give me a shout. The possibilities are endless.
I hope this website gives you some idea of the projects that I have built over the years and inspires you to envision a new project that brings the beauty of wood into your home or business. Thanks for looking and I look forward to building a new relationship with you.
